AMA Herbalism School

Discover AMA
Si te curas tu, me curo yo.

At AMA Herbalism School, we believe in providing a nurturing environment where BIPOC students can reconnect with their ancestral roots through the art and practice of herbalism led by an indigenous elder, Abuela Santa Akouatzin & experienced BIPOC herbalists. They are passionate about sharing their knowledge and guiding students on their journey to becoming skilled herbalists. With a focus on hands-on learning and practical skills, our curriculum encompasses a wide range of topics, including connecting to and respecting our land, folk herbal medicine making, and the indigenous medicine practices of the region that many of our ancestors practiced. We focus and emphasize our native plant allies. We respect your journey and acknowledge our shared histories and challenges. Together, we will turn that into medicine. Join us at AMA Herbalism School and embark on a transformative educational experience that will empower you to make a positive impact in your life & community.

Certification or Walking the Path?
There is no official certification body for Yerberas / Yerberis (herbalists) — and we do not believe there should be. Our medicine is ancestral, rooted in community, and not meant to be regulated or defined by systems that don’t reflect our values or traditions. Over time, those systems have led to the commodification, exclusion, and loss of cultural integrity. For many of us, it has made learning about our very own native plant medicine inaccessible and unaffordable.

We are remembering the old ways,
learning from our elders,
rooted in the songs and stories of our lineage.
Here, we speak our native languages freely,
share our medicine without fear
—This is sacred space.
A circle of trust,
Led and held with care.
